Saint Vincent
Saint Vincent's Unspoiled Bliss...
Normally calm and quiet up until June when Carnival takes over and the island comes alive with a calypso beat, Saint Vincent is a dream like oasis. So much so that it was featured as the backdrop for the film Pirates of the Caribbean. La Soufriere is still an active Volcano and the rugged mountainous terrain and lush forests beg to be discovered. Miles of uncluttered beaches line the coasts from the white sand beaches of Blue Lagoon, Villa Beach and Indian Bay to the black sand beaches of Argyle, Black Point, and Brighton Beach. If you are in the mood to dive, the place to do that is Wallilabou Bay. Hiking is almost a national pastime.
The quaint towns of Kingston, Layou, Barouallie, Chateaubelair, Georgetown, Calliaqua and Marriaqua Valley host a variety of museums, shops, restaurants and bars. Beachcombers Restaurant and Bar, The Sapodilla Room, Villa Lodge Hotel as well as an abundant nightlife at hideaways such as Basil’s Bar, Vee Jay’s, Young Island Resort, Petit Byahaut, Aggies, The Attic, Emotions and Cheers. Low key and unpretentious, some of the best parties are found right in the streets, when the locals get together to celebrate life...and everyone is welcome to attend.
